What are the differences between TOPO! State Series, and TOPO! Explorer?

The State Series uses our latest TOPO! V4 software, which contains popular features such as elevation profiling, 3D fly-throughs, road/streets overlays, GPS communication, and of course high resolution printing. The State Series titles contain 1000's of USGS 7.5' topographic maps for an entire State or group of States (for example California or New England) State Series products are $49.95 MSRP. .

TOPO! Explorer is our latest product in the TOPO! Family, released in May of 2008. It uses a different web based software application which makes it easy to customize and print USGS topographic maps. This application contains many of the same features found in TOPO! State Series and Weekend Explorer. The greatest difference between TOPO! Explorer and other TOPO! software products are its maps. TOPO! Explorer does not come with a pre-defined set of USGS Quads, instead the application enables you to download the exact maps you need from topo.com.
